Introduce new services without impacting your legacy rating and charging systems!
The charging architecture for 2G networks was mainly network-based with the connection of circuit switch network equipments to the charging system. The charging architecture for 2,5G and 3G networks is more complex and requires new interfaces for the connection of IP network equipments, third parties and a large panel of services platforms including IMS applications servers.
The evolution of the legacy prepaid charging system is a challenge for mobile operators. In fact, they need short time to market and quick ROI at the same time. In this context, EVISTEL provides an Open Charging Interface (OCI) which allows the real-time charging of new services without changing legacy infrastructures.
The Open Charging Interface has been designed according to the following key ideas and requirements:
- conversion of any charging protocol to limit impacts on the legacy charging system
- control of platforms and applications accessing the charging system
- the solution provides mediation feature (interface adaptation) as well as rating and charging features.
- transparent integration for subscribers, applications, networks, prepaid and billing systems.
The Open Charging Interface is based on the DASP (Data Service Platform), the EVISTEL carrier grade service platform which is fully compliant with open market standards such as 3GPP, ETSI, GSM, ANSI IETF and OMA standards.
Benefits for operators:
- fast deployment of new services
- transparent integration within legacy rating and charging systems
- high availability (99.999%), modular and scalable solution
- short ROI
