As handsets get more and more sophisticated and complex, network operators needs to better know their subscribers' base handsets (type, capabilities…) to offer their users dedicated and handset-compatible content. In this context, operators also need to provide customers with simple and fast terminal's configuration. The EVISTEL Device Manager meets these requirements.

The Device Manager is a complete solution including automatic handset recognition, configuration and knowledge database:

- Automatic Device Detection: detects all handsets used by each subscriber in real-time
- Terminal Capability Center (TCC): this database contains all handsets information (capabilities, screen size...)
- Over The Air (OTA) configuration: provides automatic configuration of the mobile terminals triggered by a subscriber's request (using SMS, USSD, Web/WAP) or by an external application.
- Automatic Device Configuration: detects any new handset used by a subscriber, checks if it is properly configured and updates the configuration if necessary.
- Equipment Identity Register (EIR): is a standard EIR providing fraud prevention features.


The Device Manager has been developed according to the below key ideas and requirements:

The Device Manager is based on the DASP (Data Service Platform), the EVISTEL carrier grade service platform which is fully compliant with open market standards such as 3GPP, ETSI, GSM, ANSI IETF and OMA standards.
